Anyone is welcome to attend the meetings of the Parish Council but, whilst the public cannot participate, a short period of time is given over for members of the public to air their views on matters directly related to the Parish Council.
Full Council
The Parish Council Meetings, Annual Parish Meeting (AMP 7.00pm) and Annual Parish Council Meetings (AMPC 7.30pm) take place in the People’s Hall, Howgill Lane, Sedbergh.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee is responsible for establishing and reviewing policies, compliance, risk, accounts, budget, audit and the Council’s website.
The Finance Committee meets once a month in the Parish Council Office, 72 Main Street, Sedbergh normally at 6.15pm three days before the main Council meeting.
Amenities Committee
The Amenities Committee is responsible for management of the car parks, toilets, the Wednesday weekly market, the football field & children’s playground at Howgill Lane, Parish Council lighting and benches, etc.
The Amenities Committee normally meets once a month, on the first Wednesday of the month at 7:15pm in the Parish Council Office, 72 Main Street, Sedbergh.
Planning Committee
The Planning Committee assesses all planning applications and, for most proposals, submits comments to the Planning Authority on behalf of the Council. The Committee reports to the full Council on more significant development proposals and also on related matters such as appeals, consultations on policy reviews, local plans, the conservation area, affordable housing etc.
The Planning Committee meets as required but normally on the first Wednesday of the month at 8:00pm following the Amenities Committee but the date can fluctuate to adhere to planning application timescales with Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority (YDNPA) which is the local planning authority for Sedbergh Parish.
Queen’s Garden Committee
The Queen’s Garden Committee is responsible for periodic review of the management and maintenance of the gardens and consideration of proposals for the future development and use of the gardens. It includes Co-Opted Members of the Friends of Queen’s Garden.
The Queens Garden Committee normally meets as required but usually every 3 months. Please do confirm meeting dates and times with The Clerk.
